Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.
Police then located numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials state initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A senior representative commented the incident left him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
